"Lets Explore the Unexplored"
Gokyo lake is oligotrophic lakes in sagarmatha national park at the elevation of 4700m upto 5000m. There are mainly six lakes around the main lake. Famous gokyo ri(5357m) gives extraordinary views of the gorgeous mountains and peaks. This glacier lake is a religious spot too for the hindus and the buddhist. Off-the -beaten path with great peaceful natural phenomenon leads the trekkers upto gokyo lake via many himalayan sherpa villages. Scenic gokyo valley is an unspoiled trekking destination in khumbu region.
Gokyo lake has been listed in the ramsar site(wetlands site) by its importance. Khumjung and gokyo villages are the legendary village of the area with vibrant and amazing sherpa culture and tradition. Trekking this route provides a lot of variety: views of the bright turquoise high-altitude lakes, Ngozumpa glacier (the largest glacier in the Himalayas), and views across to Everest as well as other 8,000 meter-plus mountains from the top of Gokyo Ri (Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu).
The water is reserved on the lake from various sources, such as seepage from the Ngozumpa glacier, a stream coming from the Renjo La pass from north-west and another stream originating from the Ngozumpa glacier in the east. These are glacier-fed freshwater wetlands and discharge water to the Dudh Kosi headway via the Taujon Lake and the Longabanga Lake. These lakes are deeper than previously assumed by the researchers.
